Pete, I am interested in your reverse proxy set up.

I am going to be in a similar position where a single external IP address
is going to be used for multiple sites.

Is there a good reference on the initial set up and understanding how this
all fits together or any advice you would share ?

Thanks

Don Brown

And, not to add complexity, but in my particular case I have 7 or 8
sites running in various states of disarray so in order not to bring
down the whole stack to tweak the settings on one, I have a single
instance as a reverse proxy that passes traffic back to my other
instances.

Also, in my case, I have one external IP so using the reverse proxy
makes it all simple and easy to manage external DNS and internal routing.

Great, thank you.

I currently have 3 Apache servers, and the second two just use
alternative ports. There's now talk about creating Apache servers for
individual apps, and I'd rather not just keep adding move alternative
ports.

Didn't see a response...but yeah, I have multiple instances that do
just that...

I have two physical NIC ports, configured in a
load-balancing/fault-tolerant setup, with these interfaces:
x.y.z.1 Virtual IP
x.y.z.128 Physical
x.y.z.173 Physical

If I want to add a new IP address for Apache, I assume I would just add
another Virtual IP and have Apache listen on that IP?
Example:
x.y.z.2 Virtual IP

Correct?
