The main issue was that the memory pool configuration for QHTTPSVR was reset to the default by the upgrade. iBM said that was expected behaviour and the subsystems provided by the OS should not have tailored memory pool(s) set up. The confit information is apparently stored in a location that gets replaced. Discuss!

We moved from 7.1 to 7.3 about 3 months ago and have had no performance issues. If anything it seems better.

Interesting - we have had a customer go from 7.1 to 7.3 and all hell has broken loose regarding performance of a stateless cgi application there too.

Kevin - We don't know what is acceptable and what is terrible. We migrated from 5.4 on a 11 year old server to 7.2 on a Power8. We are using what we knew as a base line. I would be willing to accept a 15 second startup if we didn't have the delay issue if we didn't make a request for 5 minutes. We agree the user should not see much of a delay. The issue is what is causing that delay and why.

As far as I know we are not using persistent CGI. We are using what I would call as stateless programming. Every request pasted to the server sends all the information needed since the server job could have serviced any other job in between our requests.

I believe there is an issue with the server settings. The programs have not changed during the upgrade. I think I will have to call IBM for assistance. Thanks for your help.

Thanks,
Kent
