To resolve that error you will want to install gmake. The ibmichroot
project (5733OPS opt 3) can help with gmake installation by obtaining it
from perzl.org.

Here are some instructions on how to get it installed. Note this is
installing gcc, which includes GNU Make, because you will sometimes need a
C/C++ compiler with npm/node-gyp.

$ cd /QOpenSys
$ git clone git@xxxxxxxxxxxxx:litmis/ibmichroot.git
$ cd ibmichroot
$ ./pkg_setup.sh pkg_perzl_gcc-4.8.3.lst

The hiredis install didn't find gcc so I ran the following:

$ export CC=gcc

That will get you to the following error that I have yet to solve**.

../node_modules/nan/nan.h:50:21: fatal error: algorithm: No such file or
directory
#include <algorithm>

**Did some research on this in March that you can find here:
https://bitbucket.org/litmis/ibmichroot/issues/24/gcc-include-usr-include-algorithm
Would welcome any contributions to figuring out what direction to go with
this. I just haven't had time.

Subject: [WEB400] Node - npm install fails when "node-gyp rebuild" required

Hello

I ran into this problem previously on Windows installs, and now I can see
the same problem on the IBMi.

To cut a long story short, in some cases when you install an npm package
it will need to rebuild it. "npm install hiredis" is a good example.
There was/is a big furore about it in the Windows community but there is at
least a workaround documented here
https://github.com/nodejs/node-gyp/issues/629#issuecomment-153196245
which involves installing a C++ compiler and making some config changes to
npm.

So, not surprisingly, the same issue exists on the IBMi. Has anyone
solved it or managed to work around it? I imagine the solution will be
similar.

Thanks
Kevin
