So DB2 on IBM i does not treat databases the way MySQL does. You can come
close by using the analogy of a database in MySQL is roughly equivalent of
a library on IBM i. But the REAL difference is that the typical MySQL
application would store EVERYTHING in a single database while the typical
IBM i application stores data content in more than one library and access
is handled via a Library List.
Sending you some samples but will probably make a blog article out of
this.

Josh Hall pointed out to me that I was passing the DB2_I5_NAMING_OFF with
out it being in an Array....
This is the call that worked for me.
$db2Conn = db2_pconnect( '*LOCAL', 'Usrnm', 'Psswrd', array(
'i5_naming'=>DB2_I5_NAMING_OFF ) );
Now all I have to do is figure out how to select the database I want to
use.... back to google..... maybe I can find some examples in the
current source...
