Do you plan for the future, or not?

After the fifth child, yes, I got a vasectomy. Nothing like going deep in

Well, since Aaron is referring to an actual real world solution that I was
also familiar with (but wasn't involved with) I think he did plan for the
future... and used what was deemed "the best" technologies at that time.
And it's still running (what is it... 10 years later? More?)

I've done many projects over the years as a full time employee and recently
with customers as an ISV and consultant.

Each one is better than the last because of the available technologies.
And each one I wish I could go back and "redo" with what I've learned.
But, that's not going to happen. Most of them are running strong... I
find myself working myself out of a job too easily I guess.

We don't always have the ability to pop into a project and do whatever we
want. We have to work around the existing architecture and skillsets. And
what we leave, as full time employees or consultants, should be fairly easy
for those who come and go to work with and maintain.

But I only speak from my own experiences over the past 20 or so years in
the industry (and I'm "only" 45!), and I'm not looking for another big long
thread that leads nowhere. Just sharing my thoughts. Take em or leave em.
