Hopefully you are pulling to the IBMi with Git also. It works very well on the IBMi :)
The addition of DB2 to Waterline has already been a topic of discussion as it happens (with Aaron). I just haven't had the opportunity to pursue it yet.

Kevin - I back you up...
We are doing the exact same on daily basis. Our developers has their own node.js on their MAC/Linux and windows pulling from our git. Pushing to our git when stuff are good to go and finally deploy to the IBMi... Sounds like a dream just came true.. It is true...
Our ORM is a little strange though. It is our old Portfolio product which is like five years old written in C and RPG. It works fine for now and gives "platform unity". We are however looking into using "Waterline" - But I don't think there is an IBMI / DB2 out there yet...

I'm not dreaming - I have already done it.....and with an ORM the database differences are dealt with under the covers. It really depends on what you want your app to do of course, but for my needs I can write and test on a PC and then deploy it to by IBMi and it just works.

keep on dreaming ;-) as long there is a DB to interact with there will be differences in the code.
Not to mention on what about handling job execution and output queues and thereby the servers basic infrastructure.

It's not necessarily speed of development that is the attraction (for me).
It's the fact that I can run the same app on my Windows PC, Mac, UNIX server or IBMi without having to change it in any way :)

What about needing so many objects/files for just one application...
routes, views, plus everything else. Things get confusing... Then there's the server side js vs client side. :) My head is spinning haha..
And I don't find jade any more intuitive than HTML... but at least it has includes. :)
I was able to duplicate an app (well, the basic functionality) I have that generates license keys for our software that is written in RPG to node.
I
can't say it was any quicker to develop at all.. but then again RPG is like second nature... js I'm pretty good at, but it's the structure of the routes, views, etc and then jade on top of it... I'm not sold yet, but I like it better than Ruby so far.

Another small irritant is that you cannot have your web app listen on multiple ports (like 80 and 443 for SSL). You have to have two (or
more)
instances of the app running, or put a proxy in front of it.
