Yeah, It'd be nice but I'm dealing with a single LPAR 515...

Since it's power 5, the guested OS isn't an option, AFAIK. And the
additional hardware required for non-guested is prohibitive.

And since the developer happens to be the sysop, sysadmin and IT
manager...I'm going to be on production regardless ;)

Only one instance of Zend Server is supported per LPAR. In Zend Server 6,
you can create a separate application via the application deployment
mechanism. But this only allows you to segregate the Zend Server rules
and not have separate php.ini files, etc. Library lists can be handled
with config files in separate directories so again you can come close.

In a perfect world developers do not belong on production but each shop is
different with different needs and staff sizes. Ideally we recommend
separate LPAR's but we have heard from many customers that this can be
cost prohibitive. Not from an IBM standpoint as they have made this
stupid easy and almost zero cost with Power 7 and i7.1. But usually their
ERP vendor wants a lot of money to load their software on a separate
developer LPAR which I think blows bigtime. We (Zend) and many others
charge a little for software in a development LPAR and that seems to work
pretty well. (climbing down from my soapbox...)

How do you handle having Development and production on the same server
with respect to Zend?

Can you run two instances of the Zend Server?

If not, can you run two instances of a given application in the same Zend
Server?
