Rich is good, too, but some sites implement richness for the sake of buzzword bingo. It should only be used when it improves the UX, and even then it should be used smartly. The site should not happily sacrifice download/render speed or accessibility for the sake of richness.

Amen to that Robert - I am so sick and tired of sites that take forever to load and when they finally get done there is nothing there that couldn't have been done with a simple table and a stylesheet.

Way too many sites use heavy-duty JS libraries apparently just because someone told them they should.
