If you use the CGI interface, there is an extra layer, and RPG CGI program,
in between the calling program and the stored procedure.

I still don't understand. What is the difference between calling "xmlservice.pgm" from "xmlcgi.pgm" vs. calling it from "qzdasoinit.pgm"?

If you haven't benchmarked the CGI interface vs. the QZDASOINIT interface, then you're just spreading harmful FUD about CGI performance, no?

Check out the following:

www.radile.com/rdweb/ptl/ptl100/launch.shtml?app=xcsx100

It's a program that runs SQL "select * from 1 of 7 tables" selected by a radio button. The tables range from 1 to 31,000+ rows, so you can get a good feel for performance. SQL result sets are formatted in CSV format and returned to the browser. We're using a CGI interface.

See the RPG source:

Again, my gut feel is that the performance of calling "xmlservice.pgm" from "xmlcgi.pgm" will not be much different from calling "xmlservice.pgm" from "qzdasoinit.pgm".
