applications would you envisage being implemented on the IBMi?

I assume you're asking about applications that might benefit from Web Sockets. I kind of answered this in my previous message. More specifically, I'm interested in hosting virtual classrooms that bring together teachers and students who might exchange all sorts of interactive curriculum content and participate together in "learning" exercises.
