Most Java solutions, including Glassfish and JBoss, include startup scripts which are BAT-files for Windows and shell scripts for Unix. If you need to execute those, you cannot stay in the "pure" RUNJVA approach of launching a jar file, but must have PASE (which emulates an AIX box including shell scripts).
