I agree with what Mike said below. I would also ask how
artistic/design-oriented are you? Is the purpose to drive new business or
just provide some basic info? Any of us could handle the technical aspect
of things but I've seen a lot of pages coded by tech guys that, although
functional, look like they were from the 1990's. The templates of a CMS
would give it a standardized look and feel. Maybe that doesn't matter to
his target audience. If so, that's fine but it's something to consider.

Bryce,
I agree that it is overkill. But a minimalist attitude tends to get
us IBM i folks into trouble. If he wants to make this a learning
experience, then I say play away. Maybe create the pages manually
and then still work with the CMS to see how that compares. I don't
know about you, but every time I build a web page based upon a
customer request, I get more requests, and then more, and then more.
A CMS based system may not only be a learning experience, but also
an insurance policy. You know what happens, hand code this time and
then hand code next time. Pretty soon there is so much content in
the hand coded screens that by the time you realize you need a more
streamlined approach like a CMS it is too much work and you have a
built in excuse to continue hand coding. DIRTFT!
Regardless of language or technology, I for one would encourage
everyone to get out there and PLAY and if you don't have an excuse,
call me and I'll make one up!
Regards,
Mike
