The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

Much of this will run on IBM i directly. Javascript and AJAX run in the
browser, so the hosting platform doesn't matter. AJAX requests do have to
talk to a program or service running on the server, so that could be done
in RPG, Java, PHP, etc. in the case of IBM i. If you are considering an
open source CMS, then much of what is available will run directly on IBM i
as well, unless it is .NET-based (then you'll need a Windows Server).
Wordpress, Drupal and Joomla! are all PHP-based and will run so long as
Apache and ZendServer are installed. The "Community Edition" of the latter
is free. You can run these in Linux on Intel or Power as well. I have an
openSUSE instance running in Virtualbox on my PC, for example, that I use
for web development. (I am assuming that Apache, PHP, etc. are available
on SUSE or RedHat for Power.)

subject: Re: [WEB400] what to use for my web site
Just curios after skimming through this, what is to be the hosting
hardware
and os for this or is this to be a cloud approach?? I have been dabbling
in
understanding these open source projects using LAMP, WAMP and XAMPP on
both
wndows and linux desktop OS's. I am hoping the answer would be a
SUSE/REDHAT Linux OS on I.
