Ah! The right question.

I want to demonstrate that the Power i does it all. One might choose to have various other servers, but that is a choice, not a requirement, right?

As I said, I am an IBM bigot. This platform has been my platform of choice since 1971. In all of that time, my experience has been that if IBM didn't provide it, I probably didn't need it. More than that, straying away from IBM has, without fail, landed me in a pickle. Is that a bigoted and idiotic attitude? Well... yes. Yes. But for a country boy who went to college when there were less than a dozen computers in the world, keeping up with everything is beyond my ken, so I stick with what is familiar to me.

Therefore, I am not into a discussion here about what things are named. I understand IBM is using Apache and Tomcat and that is fine by me - that means to me that they have vetted those products, and those versions, and I am not hanging out there with problems coming from betas gone bad.

For now, I want to do a beginning-to-end application, perhaps a step up from trivial, but certainly not into the average category. I want to try it out and see why there are so many differing solutions.

I have already installed a static website on an AS/400, and it worked slicker'n snot, so I am thinking that the Power i probably is better than a V4R5 installation, and maybe I should look at it.

Also, regarding "the platform's capabilities", I view IBM i as one platform, and
WAS as another. Which platform are you most interested in?

This response intrigues me. One of the reasons I want to learn more
about Websphere is that I admit to being an IBM bigot. If I don't
understand the platform's capabilities how can I expect others to
advocate for the platform?
