Nathan,
Thanks for your response. No, I didn't see that, but it's exactly the type
of information I was looking for. I thought it was strange that the IBM i
DB2 storage engine went away so soon, but I guess Larry has his reasons. I
see they've also dropped support for AIX, as well, but those in the HP-UX
camp are in good shape since they recently added support for that
platform.
I think this is a set back for PHP on IBM i because all the software
written for PHP and MySQL obviously is no longer supported on the
platform. We were looking at potentially using ExpressionEngine or another
PHP-based CMS for a website update. That may be out unless we host MySQL
on another platform. I suppose Zend Server on IBM i will support (and
continue to support) calls to MySQL hosted on other platforms. I have a
call set up for Monday to see what they can tell me. It's not a problem,
of course, for custom apps written against DB2, unless Zend plans on
bailing in the future as well.

Does anyone know the status of these products for the future on IBM i?
Blake,
You probably saw the following End of Life notice:
http://dev.mysql.com/support/eol-notice.html
I gather that Oracle is NOT interested in supporting MySQL on IBM i. If
not
Oracle, then who? What about PHP applications that rely on MySQL? Weren't
we
just discussing WordPress's use of MySQL under IBM i?
