Ahh, I see. I guess I'm just used to the wild west scenario where we (the
developers) manage our own workstations and environments for programming.
Works well for our 3 man shop, probably not so well for shops of 12 or 20
or even more.
Thanks

Re: [WEB400] Great new Rich UI features in RBD 8
From my point of view, the decision comes down to number of workstations
to install.
If you're installing one workstation, allowing IM to manage the download
is better. IM is designed to only download the packages for the selected
features, which minimizes bandwidth consumption.
If you're installing more than one workstation, downloading the files and
setting up a local repository is preferred. The advantage of IM
minimizing the download is undone when there's more than one workstation
to install. A local repository is a network-local location from which to
pull product files and fixpacks and thus minimizes bandwidth consumption.

Joe,
Does the IM not work for you? I'm curious as to the benefits of doing it
manually over the IM.
Thanks

Peter, Jeff gave you the link to the official site which allows you to
download via Installation Manager. I'm still old school and I download
the files directly and set up repositories (I'm writing an article about
that right now, as a matter of fact).
Anyway, go to this link for the non-IM download, which allows either
Dwonload Director (IBM's download applet) or straight HTTP download.
https://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/iwm/web/preLogin.do?source=RATLe-RBDE-EVAL&S_PKG=CR7WHML&S_CMP=web_dw_rt_swd
This is actually the link for "previous versions" near the bottom of the
page, but it has an option to download 8.0.1. You'll have to sign in with
your IBM ID.
Joe
Joe,
Is there a link available yet for RDB 8.
Peter
