Vern,

what I am saying - use your network, I have occasional Kevin Turner on
"my" 515 server to test his installation procedures for Rainessance on a non
37
CCSid mashine. Unfortunately this machine will also have payroll production
data on it in a month, so it would not be available for such tests anymore
:-(

So the spirit is there, the possiblities is just now becomming limited due
to
security and client privacy.

Henrik, I can't agree that you can't get free i resources. If a person
can get along on an earlier release (V5R3), there are free timeshare
options that are available 24/7 (at least one has been mentioned here).
And IBM's virtual loaner program gives you V5R4 and up. The latter
forces you to request a new reservation every 16-17 days, but that's not
the worst thing I can think of. You are able to save your work and use
the image to start the new reservation.

So you do pay something - some inconvenience.

One can learn a lot of ILE RPG at V5R3.

BTW, the Open Access: RPG offering is installable on the virtual loaner
programs - it's there in the images with which you can install other
licensed programs. It's kept in the 7.1 directory and installs in both
6.1 and 7.1 - so you CAN work with it freely. Donations and thanks can
be sent to my personal benevolence fund.

Now are you saying, since you suggest others do it, that you have spare
space to offer to participants on these lists?

:-)

But if you just want to have access to test your system on a Crazy CCSid

I'm sure you can find someone in the forums that could provide you to
that
service.

Gent's - use your network - it is a matter of trust !
