It is looking more and more that I'll need to do this manually. The WP Automatic update function just prompts you for a userid and password that authenticates you to the server running WP (Zend Server on i in this case) and then runs a script that downloads, backs up, copies and replaces the old WP files with the new ones. During that process it creates and deletes folders and files and it looks like it does it using an FTP script as far as I can tell. So, running a batch job or a CL program would defeat the whole concept of "automatic" and would require programming on my part. Maybe *someday* I will go ahead and build an update script for WP for i, but right now the manual method will be faster.

Thanks,

Pete

I don't know about using WordPress/Zend on the i but an authorization list
on the parent directories and adding the QTMHHTTP user to that list would
make it pretty painless.

[WEB400] Zend Server and Wordpress
Automatic Updates

Anyone using Zend Server with Wordpress and are able to get automatic
updates to work? I get a "Could not create directory:
/www/zendsvr/htdocs/petesworkshop/blog_wp/wp-content/upgrade/wordpress-3.tmp"

error for every folder it attempts to create. The "missing link" is
that folders are created with *my* user ID and permissions and I think
Zend (or Apache) wants to have QTMHHTTP to have permission. Since I
cannot sign on with QTMHHTTP, I have to manually add the user to every
folder the WP update creates.

Any ideas here? I could do the manual update but I am curious to see if
anyone has a workaround to the problem.

Pete
