We will know that EGL is open source to your satisfaction (and mine also)
once IBM releases a spec of it and other implementations start surfacing
from entities other than IBM. This would be similar to how JSF works,
though maybe not entirely similar (I am not entirely versed in how IBM setup
the EGL syntax and interfaces to know if alternate implementations are
supported).

I'm just not convinced (yet) that open source EGL is a complete,
stand-alone package. I don't want to get wrapped up in open source EGL, then
discover I really need to get the licensed version of EGL tools in order to
run a business with EGL. I need to feel confident that open source EGL is
more than bait for the licensed version.
