One of my strongest impressions from watching the Power-Teacher video was the amount of thought and effort that must have gone into the mouse and keyboard event code. The primary UI is a grid, and it was clear to me that they were registering and responding to multiple types of events for each grid cell - not to mention events associated with numerous other UI elements.
One of my friends, who works for a large school district in Utah which licenses software from Pearson, once asked their salesman how many people they had working on their Power-School product. More than one hundred, was the reply.
