I can't imagine that the "full" version is that difficult to implement (vs the gem). Download size is approximately the same so I think the gem plugin for JRuby just has a ruby language wrapper to invoke the server.

I am downloading the full version right now but I'll be surprised if it doesn't work.

I did a quick try. Unpacking the ZIP and invoking bin/asadmin with JAVA_HOME set to Java 6 failed with some edbdic line noise so there is probably more to it.

Sigh. Why _MUST_ application servers require navigating a maze of twisty commands, all alike just to do simple stuff?
