Actually I'd like competitions between platforms implementing a common specification, so you can easily choose (sorry, soapbox again).The whole point of being different is to create a marketing edge. Something that these hardware platforms have that others don't, and something that customers want to buy.
Right. I think competition between platforms is good. It gives companies choices. Having the ability to develop applications that can run on multiple platforms lets a company choose the platform(s) they want while protecting their current investments in programming tools and applications.
