Mike,

If you are hosting the service from the iSeries you can just start the application server and add the service from there. I don't have admin authority to our server so I can't lookup the steps and post them, sorry. We recently added our first and from watching the operations folks go through the setup it seems pretty straightforward. Be sure you have PGMINFO(*PCML :*MODULE) in a control spec in your source. The server uses the PCML to retrieve the program parameters and return value.

I do use WDSC for my testing when creating a service. You don't really need to know much about WDSC. Just how to set up a connection and the filters for your source. After that just right click on the source member and follow the prompts.

HTH,

Rick

Subject: [WEB400] Creating an RPG web service without WDSC/RDi

Is there a way to turn an RPG stored procedure into a web service without using WDSC/RDi? Maybe by using an existing web service that calls RPG as a base and cut/paste/rename/edit the files in the IFS manually? Someway that does not have the added overheard of needing to learn WDSC/RDi just to do that final step after the rpg app has been created and tested
