I concur everyone opinions that 44mb Flash is way too extensive. I would
grab a plastic t-ball bat and whack him/her on the head. Must have a rule
of thumb when it comes to use WAV, SWF, MPEG..etc that it does not take
more than 15 seconds to load or else the 'browsers' people will be turned
off and go elsewhere.
Now if it is for internal (intranet) then, skip intro or cache it is an
ideal thing to do.

The question you need to ask him is this: "Do our customers need to see this
each time they come to our website?" If the answer is "no" then he needs
to cave into your disapproval and change it. At least have one of those
"skip intro" links. It's also possible that he hasn't optimized everything
and he just needs to recompile his swf (Flash).
On that note can you post the link as I would love to see what this web guy
thinks is so important :-)
