You can get the current display file information via the
QWSRTVOI API. From that you can derive which fields
on screen belong to which record format.

That bit of advice could be a gem. I think it would be well for anyone who may be working on the Virtual Terminal Interface to tuck that little suggestion into a safe place. I wouldn't have know what to search on, but I'm pretty sure that it will be helpful to have access to the full attributes of the record formats and fields that are coming through the 5250 data-stream.
