Our IT department has chosen to stay on XP...
I do not believe there is something wrong with XP as such...
I understand that our approach to tool upgrading is
fundementally different, which is fine with me...

Just pointing out that they've decided to stay on something that is end-of-support shortly. Running XP today is like running V5R3. It's "ok" but I'd have plans to upgrade soon.
