Did I miss something? What is wrong with Apache? Remember that it is open
source and extensible so you can write your own "interceptors" if you want
(which I have had the "fun" pleasure of doing once :-)

I'm not sure I'd want to write a general purpose web server in RPG (I'm not
sure I'd want to write one period) but if all you're doing is receiving web
service requests and you can marry the "web server" to the back-end I would
think this would be rather straight forward. Accept TCP connection, hand off
to separate thread/job, process request, return result end thread/job.
