You're missing the point of EGL. JSF is only one of the interfaces EGL provides. Right now I'm working on the rich client stuff - it's amazing. ANd unless you already have significant Web 2.0 JavaScript talent, you don't have the same skills as EGL will supply.

If you want to learn every new technology in house and implement it yourself, then by all means do so. But if you want to concentrate on business logic and leave the plumbing to IBM, then EGL is worth a look.
