The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

Can you not still use client-side scripting once you've determined there's

Maybe there is a JSF keyword, but you are having trouble finding it, and I
certainly do not know enough to give you the answer. But if it was me, I
check to see if there's an error message and then change the class using
client-side scripting to get around the issue at hand.
Thanks, Michael. Actually, I do this mostly for educational value. I'd
like to know how to do it from the server side if it's possible. The
client-side validation is good, but not as robust obviously. So in
those cases where I do need server-side validation it would be nice to
know how to trigger the class change.
I mean, it can be done relatively easily in EGL as well. You have
direct access to the Faces context, which allows you to change the
attributes of anything on the page. And my guess is I could probably
then create a custom editing routine that would update the field's class
as needed. But that's about three levels of complexity above what it
should be, IMO.
