I found your post very interesting. I have often wondered how to
evolve RPG into OO and whilst it is of course possible you have
shown that it can be done.

More and more, developers are encapsulating procedures and building service programs. That's applicable to just about any type of development, including business applications.

The type of code that supports object instantiation is more applicable to frameworks, where the goal is to improve programmer productivity through powerful and simplified programming interfaces. As you master the technique it leads to interesting combinations.

Say you have one service program for dynamically building combo boxes, and another service program for dynamically building SQL result sets, and that leads to the thought of wrapping those two with a third service program that builds combo boxs from an SQL result sets with just a few simple procedure calls.

It gets interesting.
