If you break it down to paging, using the print key would print the
current page for a quick, limited print.
Then you can add a 'print' button to allow printing of all records (as
you do now). Best of both worlds.

Not my place... this request is to be a report for them to print out.
Think of it this way. If a restaurant were to run this report from
their
computer... they may want to print it. A "subfile" type of page will
require them to print every page manually. Also their printer is not
accessible by the as400.

I guess, I was hoping someone would say to a SELECT for XML and build an
xml document in which the html page will reference. I'm just not sure
how
to go this route, because the user is also asking for break totals.

I know sometimes users "need" that sort of thing. But sometimes it's

easy

to show them a better way. Imagine if ebay showed you every auction

matched your search on one page... :)

I need some ideas. We are currently using CGIDEV2 for building our

web

applications. In this particular program, I have an SQL statement

that

inserts a large amount of data into a TEMP table and it runs in

under 4

seconds. However, reading through the temp table and building the

HTML

page takes over a minute. FYI, the result is a 122 printed web

page.

Typically, a user wouldn't be asking for this large amount of data,
however, the user is requesting to have this capability.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to improve the speed? Can anyone

point

me in any direction?
