have you tested virtual400.com?

about the 170, sure it is not the fatest, but I've two and even one seconds
response times in ajax transactions, even two to four seconds in "big"
screens using grid tigra tables and so on, in other 520 v5r4 I can achieve
the half or even better, but two to four seconds is not too bad, in 170 v5r1
you can even use apache or original http server.

A 170 would run at the speed of molasses. Any other machine would
involve
more money, which he doesn't want to spend, as well as his having to make
sure the machine is always available, backed up, etc. I could host the
site
on our machine, but that is not the business that I want to be in.

Aaarg!
I don't understand why, the job is only open an tcp port....

maybe your best option is find an cheap old 170 and rent the service
yourself, too complex for an single customer.

Best Wishes,

Does anyone know a company that will host a customer's web site on an
System
i (iSeries, AS/400, whatever) and charge the kind of money that
Windows-based and Unix-based servers charge? I have a customer who
does
not own a System i (and does not want to) who wants me to develop a
web
site
for him. I'd like to use some existing RPG and NetData code that I've
used
elsewhere, but obviously can't run that anywhere but OS/400
