There was a discussion earlier this week on Midrange-L that veered off to the topic of merging System i data with HTML templates for the production of form letters, statements, and reports, stored in the IFS, which reminded me of a proof-of-concept I did last year. http://tinyurl.com/yoz9uu If you view the source for the document it becomes more clear how blocks of content flow from top to bottom, similar to the generation of a spool file, after reading a set of database files. But with the help of a Cascading Style Sheet, and the use of absolute positioning, the data can be formatted to fit on 8 and 1/2 inch paper.
