Mike, The second option that Nathan points out, the scrollable DIV, is what we use frequently for all iSeries generated pages. It's sometimes a bit of a hassle to get the headers to align with the list but it works well. We wrap the list in a <div> like this: <table id="matchingHeaderTable"><snip></table> <DIV class="border2Normal scrollerAttributes" id="nnnnTable" style="width:35%; height :250px;"> <table id="listTable"><snip></table> </div> the div will control the width on the page for the table that it contains and place the scrollbar correctly relative to the scrolling table. I don't know if it's the best method but we use width to control alignment. You have to allow room for the scroll bar in the calculation of the widths. hope that helps. bill (my son is attending PCT) ----- Original Message ----- From: Nathan Andelin To: Web Enabling the AS400 / iSeries Sent: Wednesday, November 15, 2006 2:16 PM Subject: Re: [WEB400] HTML tables with fixed header and/or column I normally use an inline frame for scrollable lists, and put column heading just above the frame, but if you're against using frames, another alternative is to enclose the list (an HTML table) in a scrollable DIV. We want to have the column heading stay as the user scrolls thru the detail records and also have the name column stay visible as they scroll right. We have the scrolling working in IE but it's very very slow. In firefox the headers don't stay static. Has anyone figured out a way to do this that works in both browsers that does not resort to using frames? Mike Cunningham CIO Pennsylvania College of Technology www.pct.edu mcunning@xxxxxxx
