Walden, Giovanni recently clarified on yahoo groups that the open source license he wrote and published at http://www-922.ibm.com/easy400p/easy400pos.html applied to other software provided on the site, but not to CGIDEV2, which I'm sure was was a surprise to a lot of people. He promoted CGIDEV2 as "open source", but now acknowledges that it wasn't. Just before his retirement from IBM, Giovanni requested that IBM release the product as open source, but his request was refused. He indicated that he was reprimanded by an IBM attorney, for allowing Mel to fix and enhance the product after leaving IBM, and for distributing Mel's changes. Giovanni is now calling for a popular uprising to pressure IBM into releasing its copyright. Who knows what the folks at IBM CTC may be thinking, other than feeling reluctant to relinquish their rights. Nathan M. Andelin --- "Walden H.
