I guess I've got a skewed outlook, since I've been using Java and RPG side-by-side for five years now, and C and RPG for the previous ten. But that's why I love OS/400 and the ILE environment, because it allows you to do that so well, better than any other environment. It's no surprise that Microsoft is copying that architecture. They're actually pretty good at making cheap knockoffs of other technology. For example, Apple begat Windows OS/2 begat NT Java begat J# ILE begat .NET Joe
