RE: Using Varying

I am just guessing, but if you use substring you need to remember that the
first two bytes of a VARYING variable are the length bytes.  So if you want
to strip the first character (say to alphabetise) you need to refer to byte
3, not byte 1.  If this doesn't help, try the RPG list as there may be only
a few RPGers here.
