Exec vs Map + Exec

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Can anyone please explain to me why

    Exec /cgi-bin/nd/* /QSYS.LIB/DEMO01.LIB/DB2WWW.PGM/*

and

    Map /cgi-bin/nd/* /QSYS.LIB/DEMO01.LIB/DB2WWW.PGM/*
    Exec /QSYS.LIB/DEMO01.LIB/*

both appear to produce the exact same execution string as seen in the server 
job trace spool file QPZHBTRC, but the former doesn't work and the latter does?

In the ErrorLog file, the former would get either "Not authenticated", or just 
a line with the userid in it.
