Rob, this may actually be easier then trying to solve
the problem you're having if you use net.data.  There is
a send mail function, @DTW_SENDMAIL.  There is an
example on ignite's site called smtp.mac

After the e-mail is sent, you can display another page
that says "Thanks!".
