The application we are developing is a timeclock application where the user will click on an URL then swipe their ID badge into the application. We have 2000 employees and there will be 50 swipe PCs in different locations and the idea is we want to know which PC the employee swiped at. Using a user profile isn't feasable because each location would in theory need it's own profile and even if we did teach all 2000 employees how to 'sign-on' there still would be nothing to stop them from using a different user profile from any of the 50 PCs. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anton Gombkötö" <gombkoetoe@assoft.com> To: <web400@midrange.com> Sent: Thursday, March 28, 2002 10:25 AM Subject: Re: [WEB400] Obtaining IP address of client using CGIDEV2 What about just securing the application with either the iSeries user profile or a validation list? Then you could retrieve the REMOTE_USER just like you retrieve REMOTE_ADDR. When you want to go that way, check out the "protect" directive in the http-config. best regards / Mit freundlichen Grüssen Anton Gombkötö Avenum Technologie GmbH http://www.avenum.com _______________________________________________ This is the Web Enabling the AS400 / iSeries (WEB400) mailing list To post a message email: WEB400@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/web400 or email: WEB400-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/web400.
