I created a separate instance per the docs - running on port 5098. I did choose the settings you refer to. Subsystem QEJB/QEJBSBS was running. The following two jobs show as running in the subsystem - QEJBADMIN and QEJBMNTR. The subsystem QHTTPSVR is running, with jobs for instance DEFAULT and instance IWAALPHA. The install docs for Web Access have a blurb about 'confirming your installation'. Those docs say that after pointing your browser to http://as400/webaccess/iWAHome I should see a job running in that subsystem called IWAWEBACCE. When I point the browser there, I get 404 - file not found. There is no job called IWAWEBACCE running in the QEJBSBS. Just the two jobs I mentioned previously. One thing I find curious - I looked at the WRKHTTPCFG for both DEFAULT and IWAALPHA. Neither of them have any directives pointing to /webaccess . I find this odd since I've had a fair amount of experience tinkering with those settings to get various subdirectory web pages working properly. I do see some unique lines of code for the WRKHTTPCFG in IWAALPHA. One thing I'm curious about is that these lines are after a bunch of custom lines of code that I put in. The lines are as follows: BindSpecific Off Port 5098 UserID %%SERVER%% DNS-Lookup Off RuleCaseSense Off Imbeds Off SSIOnly ServerInit /QSYS.LIB/QEJB.LIB/QSVTGO46PI.SRVPGM:init_exit /QIBM/UserData/WebASAdv/default/properties/bootstrap.properties ServerTerm /QSYS.LIB/QEJB.LIB/QSVTGO46PI.SRVPGM:term_exit These lines of code are after some lines that (if I remember right) are sort of a 'catch all'. If I point IE5 to http://as400:5098 , I get my default root page OK. So, the instance seems to work for regular text based HTML. I tried going to http://as400:900 which I think is the admin function for websphere. That goes nowhere. Just sticks. I did find one other interesting tidbit - a spooled file form QEJB - it appears to have some Websphere error messages: [01.04.08 14:30:55:820 GMT+00:00] c30402fa AdminServer A ADMS0002I: Initializing WebSphere Administration server [01.04.08 14:30:55:835 GMT+00:00] ac4be396 DrAdminServer A SMTL0018I: DrAdmin available on port 13,795 [01.04.08 14:33:16:308 GMT+00:00] c30402fa ActiveEnterpr W Failed to start the bean "BindingHome" javax.naming.CommunicationExcept java/lang/Class.newInstance()Ljava/lang/Object;+14 (Class.java:241) com/ibm/ejs/container/EJSContainer.loadBeanMetaData(Ljava/lang/String;)Ljava /rmi/Remote;+71 (EJSContainer.java:1057) com/ibm/ejs/container/EJSContainer.getHomeInstance(Ljava/lang/String;)Ljava/ rmi/Remote;+2 (EJSContainer.java:990) One other question - is 5250 emulation in the product yet? In poking around IBM's web site looking for answers, I saw a reference to '5250 is coming soon....'. That's my whole objective for this exercise. Is it available? You need to go in there and start that first, before you try and access it, once running you can then get in. Have you also set up the webserver instance with use servlets & JSP's under WAS, and then made sure that the webserver name you will access is in the default Virtual Host for the iwaWebAccessServer normally Default_Host? A document that we are putting together looking at some of the WAS terms can be found at http://www.ignite400.org/html/articles/art124.htm its work in progress but may help you understand whats going on.
