Hi Doug,

We did make a change in 9.6.0.12 to toggle using the ctl-/ to be more consistent with Eclipse.

We have since learned that some users preferred the older method so PDM users can easily see that a line is commented out.

Please use the IBM Idea system to add an Idea (ideas.ibm.com).

If this is the first time you have entered an Idea:
Under Product, type RDi and select the "IBM Power: IBM I"
Under Category, type RDi and press enter.

Hope this helps!

Hi Doug

This is interesting - I've always used Ctrl-\ to undo comments. I don't think I've ever tried to add additional // to something I've already commented this way.

I have seen where, if I press Ctrl-/ on a block that contains // comments already, that the // is prepended to everything. But that's not what you are describing, right?

Personally, I'm not sure I'd try to add multiple comment // on a line - but maybe you want a visual cue more then just 1 pair. One of our developers likes to put several asterisks in old-style comments to mark what was changed, and make it easy to see.

There are a few settings for comments in Preferences - like do you insert or overwrite in a blank area. Maybe you could submit an Idea (new name for RFE) for the behavior you want.

Cheers
Vern

I just updated Rational to Version: 9.6.0.12 20220812_0616

I notice now in RPG source, the Ctrl+/ combination functions now as a
toggle, inserting or removing two slashes.

Is there anyway to change that back to its original behavior so I am
able to have two slashes be produced for each press of Ctrl+/ instead
of the toggle?

Thank you,

Doug
