Ok I have been playing with this and it seems you can confuse RDi if you
continually play with it :-)

So I have found you can do the following.

Place cursor at the start of the block to copy and press Alt + R

Either use the mouse to drag over the required rectangle or move the
cursor to the end of the rectangle and press Alt + R again

Now the block is selected.

Move the mouse to the place you want to copy to

If you press Alt + C it will copy the block but it does not insert new
lines, it will just move any code in the way to the right

If you press Alt + Z it will overwrite anything on the lines the paste
takes up.

So if you are copying just a few lines it is easy enough to make room for
the paste to not make a mess.

But if you are copying a large block and not knowing how many lines, if
you don't add enough blank lines you can make a real mess. Luckily Ctrl +
Z undoes it.

I did try toggling the Insert key on the keyboard but that seemed to make
no difference.

Would be nice if say a Alt + Shift + V would do an insert of new lines

Cheers

Don

When using the select rectangle Alt+R, you can see from the Right-Click
"Selected" menu all of the following options:

Alt+C copy
Alt+Z Overlay
Alt+M move
Alt+D Delete
Alt+K Uppercase
Alt+L Lowercase
Alt+F7 Shift Left
Alt+F8 Shift Right
