Hi Bill, to get a more official response you may wish to yap with the IBM i
networking support folks.
Personally I don't see how a single poll on any connection idle for 15
minutes will negatively impact the network performance. Now I do *assume*
that if there is no response to the poll after the network time-out period
that the IBM i would then close the connection but that is something for
the IBM i networking experts to say.

Thanks for the responses! Mike, what are your thoughts on what Vern was
saying about doing this on production partitions? My boss was basically of
the same opinion, but the production partition is, unfortunately, where
it's affecting me. Is there any real danger to doing this? Thanks again!
