Hi Mark,

We couldn't agree more.

Please contact support to be notified when this fix ships. IBM Support can add you to the existing APAR.

Thanks!

Seems RDi is now ignoring Update Production files in the launch configuration and always using the flag in the global preferences. I would expect one of two things:

1. Use the flag in preferences to populate the Launch Configuration flag when the SEP is created, and always use the Launch Configuration flag to set UPDPROD(). This has the advantage of being able to manually turn off the flag in Launch Configuration even if it is selected in Preferences. I can't imagine why anyone would want this, but I don't know everyone's situation.
-or-
2. If either the preferences flag or the launch configuration flag is set, then use UPDPROD(*YES), otherwise UPDPROD(*NO). This allows folks to keep Preferences unselected, and manually select the flag in Launch Configuration when necessary, thus maintaining the protections for *PROD libraries if you have both *PROD and *TEST on the same box or lpar.

Hi Mark,

There was an earlier APAR at the end of February that reported that
SEP launch wasn't honoring the default value of Update production
files that was set in Preferences.

If you had that value selected in preferences, you still had to
remember to check the box at starting of the SEP.

If you are certain that Update production files is selected when you
launch the SEP, there could be an exit program monitoring application
on your system forcing *PROD files to UPDPROD(*NO). Many security
software companies offer these types of programs to override commands
to product production machines.

If your IBM i isn't running an exit point monitoring software
application, please contact IBM Support so we can help resolve this problem.

Thanks!

I have been having issues with debugging recently, I am not able to
run a SEP on a file in a *PROD library.

RDi version 9.6.0.5

If I look at the launch configuration for the specific SEP I have
configures, Update p[roduction file is checked, yet whenever I launch
the program, it fails with CPF4203 Member cannot be opened while UPDPROD(*NO).

Any ideas?
