Hi Don,

Here's a link that will help with the issue you are describing.

https://developer.ibm.com/answers/questions/288843/how-to-prevent-the-rse-connection-from-dropping-wh/

Boiled down, you need to change the IBM i TCPKEEPALV to about 5 minutes less than your other communications protocols.

So if your router has keep alive set to 20 minutes, your IBM i should be set to 15, not the default 120.

To set the keep alive timer to 15 minutes on the IBM i issue the command CHGTCPA TCPKEEPALV(15).

Hope this helps!

Subject: [WDSCI-L] RSEF1002 - Operation failed . File system input or output error.

I am getting this error if I leave members open for a while and then go to close them

RSEF1002 - Operation failed . File system input or output error.

Details: Message reported from file system: Read timed out

So I am presuming that as I am working remotely something is timing out, but this has only recently started and the vpn I am working over is not disconnecting and none of my green screen sessions are ending.

I am on version 9.6.0.5

Thanks for any help

Don Brown
