For the past release or so, you can simply press Ctrl+Shift+C in the
design view and the compile is invoked--no compile button, but the
function works. I'm certain this invokes the 'last-used' compile function
so I can't be sure what it would do on the first try. I've compiled enough
DSPF and PRTF source members over the years that it always invokes our
home-grown compile command.

Re: [WDSCI-L] Compiling in Design Perspective

Hi Josée and Vern,

Currently you need to have a Source tab selected for the compile
action to be enabled.

This limitation is an RDi construct, not an Eclipse limitation. We
have a very similar internal defect opened.

"When a user clicks on the outline view, the compile
button is disabled."

We feel that the outline is an extension of the source tab that
should enable the compile action. This extension should be extended
to each of the DDS designer tabs as well.

Because we viewed this as an internal defect, I would suggest
opening a PMR over an RFE. On a side note, I will update our
internal defect just in case no one enters a PMR.

Happy Holidays everyone!

I take this back, the button to compile button disappeared once I
closed the perspective. I tried to duplicate what I had done to
make it appear, but, I can't seem to be able to do it again. Hmmm.
So, Vernon and I have the same issue.

Oh, that is very interesting. I see the button when I use the
default perspective. I have been using my own dds perspective that
I had save. I'll play with that and save this perspective version
with the compile button .

Thank you all very much, another problem solved, I love RDI!

Josée,

On my RDI 9.6.0.5, the compile menu "appears", when I click on the
source "Tab". So, if you don't like short-cut keys. You should still
have the option to use the compile menu! The compile button, should
also appear... But, to repeat, you have to the click on the source
tab. I am pretty sure that has been out there a long time. :)

That worked, I don't usually use the keyboard shortcut very much,
but I will try to remember this one.

Thank you Ken,

Josée
