Hi,

If you do a Ctrl+Shift+C, it performs your last compile. The same as the compile button!

After all if your source is RPGLE, it could be multiple types:

*SRVPGM
*MODULE
*PGM
Etc...

So, I have forgotten that I have last done a CRTSRVPGM, and switch to a different member tab. Then I now need to do CRTBNDRPG....

So, like most system errors, I check the job-log! RDI has a view called "Commands Log". Check that!

It is great for learning how RDI works too!

After all, the only way I know to check for CRTSRVPGM errors, I have to look at the job log. And no Error-Log pop-up. Which might be the real problem.

Since I am doing multiple types, I like the typically use the compile menu, and select my compile options.

Hope this helps!

PS. My old mentor, taught me to ALWAYS look at the job-log! That has saved me frustration about 80% of the time! Just a tip...

If you get a chance to attend a training class like RPG & DB2 Summit "RSE Jump Start Workshop"

It says hours of frustration in using RDI for newbies! Or IBM i developers who haven't yet access the FULL POWER for RDI...
Thanks to Jon Paris & Susan Gantner!

I haven't used the compile button, but from what everyone is saying is that it performs your last compile options. Could this be happening because a compile (like from a right click) hasn't occurred yet?

Just a thought,

Consider making a new connection.  It can be the same machine, See if it works there?   It sounds to me like it thinks the connection is off-line.  Also, maybe click Work Offline, try a compile, go back to Work Online, and see if that unlatches a stuck switch?

Ken,

I ask and he said the new work space did not correct, verify works but Compile does not. We both work remote and I have not seen this for myself. If I have time today and he does I will ask him to share his screen so I can witness.
