" I would suggest keeping an eye on the heap usage (turn on the viewer under the General settings in the workspace preferences) and if clicking the garbage can to force the GC to run does not drop the usage then restart RDI to prevent any data loss. "

When I open Window->Preferences, it defaults the General and the left pane has "Show heap status". I just checked that. Forcing a GC doesn't seem to help, but it allows me to see when I need to restart.

I displays in the status bar at the bottom of my window. I've had it there so long that I don't recall how I got it to show up.

There is also a "Garbage Collector" trashcan icon beside it.

Justin... how did IBM tell you to display that?
