Yeah, that was meant to be a "temporary work-around". To stop some of the memory leaks.
I have rolled back to 9.6.0.1 this morning. And I check all those checkboxes on the old 9.6.0.1. So my mouse-over, content assist and jump to definition are working on the previous fix pack.
It pays to keep the old install files, because you never know when you might have to roll back to the previous version.
